According to the attorney detained for hitting a sub-inspector by the Chennai Police, normal car inspections were being done outside the War Memorial on Friday night by officers from the Fort Police station.

CHENNAI: On Saturday, the city police detained a lawyer who had assaulted a sub-inspector who had been on duty the previous day. On Friday night, standard vehicle inspections were being carried out nearby the War Monument, according to the police.
They stopped Prasanna Venkatesan, an attorney, and his wife who were riding on the back of a motorcycle. The cops requested him to present paperwork pertaining to the car, and that’s when things got heated.
SI Prabakaran was abused by him, and the victim was later checked out at Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital. The advocate was arrested by police for an Inquiry
