Sub: Building association requesting heavy maintenance dues and has disconnected water lines. I, Ramachandran V aged 73. I was residing in the Residential building on the first floor since 2016. This is after receiving a handover from the builder. I received the complete handover from the builder after settling all the dues in 2015. I have been paying maintenance since the handover from 2016 to the builder. The rate of maintenance is 2.5 rupees per sqft for my 930 sqft house i.e. 2325 rupees per month.

The builder stopped collecting maintenance from Mar 2020. And They handed over the maintenance to the building association when the building's common area and several flats were unfinished. My daughter is the owner of this flat. She did not receive any notification that the builder has handed over the maintenance. since it was the COVID period since 2020 March we did not receive any notification about the maintenance from anyone.Recently, they sent me a letter via a post on the building association letterhead and they mentioned that my overall dues for 25 months are around 1 lakh rupees calculated at the rate of 4 rupees per sqft from Mar 2020 and later reduced to 3.5 rupees per sqft from Aug 2020.Ask your legal doubt of Issue regarding building association | Get the best advice and Consultation. I was willing to pay what I paid to the builder. They did not want to oblige or discuss further and disconnected my water lines.

I currently reside with my daughter in Pallikaranai as there is no water supply in the aforementioned location. I approached the police station at Kelambakkam to inform them of my situation and they called the building association member and informed them to bring the details of the overdue to disconnect and connect our line. But the association refused to do so when we called them to check on it.They have not called us for a meeting as well to date to discuss the pending dues or to listen to what we were requesting.There are several unoccupied flats on the premises for which they are not collecting any maintenance.
