She has just completed her Ph.D in Physics from The Netherlands and taken up employment there. Moreover, We both are Hindus belonging to the Tamil Brahmin community residing here in Chennai after my retirement in 2015. In fact, My daughter would like to marry a boy Naren 35 years old NRI, holding Ph.D. and employed in The Netherlands. His parents are also both Hindus (mother tongue Kannada) and are settled in Bangalore for decades. By the way, Both sides' parents would like them to Marry in India in March or April 2018. We are in need of Hindu Family Disputes Legal Advice.

Traditional Rituals and Hindu Family Disputes Legal Advice

We all would like to have our marriage done as Hindus but without observing or following the traditional rituals (like Nichayadartham, Kasi Yatra, Panigrahanam, Kanyadanam, Saptapadi, etc.) and also without the involvement of any priests. We would like a simple wedding in which the boy would be tying Mangalsutra (thali) on the girl and the boy and girl garlanding each other in the presence of and with the blessings of about 200 invited guests including the parents from both sides, elders, relatives, and friends. In fact, We would also like to do the marriage registration and certificate obtained for production in The Netherlands for registration there as per the requirements there when both returns to resume work and start living together.

Hindu weddings without traditional Hindu rituals

We would like legal advice on Hindu Family Disputes Legal Advice, with necessary supporting basis, on the following:
  1. Is it legally permissible to do such a Hindu wedding without traditional Hindu rituals etc., in Tamil Nadu?
  2. Will such a Hindu wedding be legal and valid?
  3. Will it be sufficient if on the day chosen between the parties? There was only thali tying and garland exchanging. Photos were thereof at the wedding or is anything else also needs at the wedding to ensure it is legally valid?
  4. What are the process to get the wedding registered and a certificate obtained?
  5. Could your legal firm provide services for getting the registration and getting the certificate?
